About the Program
My program does not make any claims that it will help boost your students reading scores or their test taking abilities. Nor is my program a buffer to help temper children with severe behavioral problems. My program does, however, give students the opportunity to solve and meet challenges from a different perspective. Students will quickly learn that there is more than one approach to problem solving in art. It teaches them that it is judgment and not formulaic rules that prevail. My program will help teach students get involved in the creative process both from an individual and group perspective. It encourages students to think and express themselves independently and helps to create an environment of cooperative learning. All of which, I think, can be affective and applied skills in embracing other disciplines in the core curriculum. Students often come away from this program feeling a strong sense of accomplishment as this is reinforced and validated by the acknowledgment of their teachers, parents, and peers.
